Fall Leaf Topiary

Picture

I heart topiaries.
A lot.
I miss them when spring and summer has passed.
So I decided to make myself a fall one.
If you like the picture above, then read on you fine people!

I started with a couple of these found at Hobby Lobby.

Picture

Well, actually I started off with this 😉

Picture

You need about 6 bags of leaves…
…and a ball of yarn…or twine…or ribbon…or burlap…or a little paint.
Whatever tickles your fancy.

Picture

Wrap the yarn around the stick.
Round and round.
Get crazy!

Picture

My leaves had little stems.

Picture

I took those little stems and just stuck them right in.
Starting from the bottom.

Picture

These guys came in handy too.
Floral pins.

Picture

I used some metal tins I bought last year to set my topiary in.
You can use pots, baskets, urns…
…again…
whatever floats your boat.
The tin was taller than the bottom of the topiary so I placed a 10 year old canned good at the bottom.  This added height and weight.
I then stuffed plastic bags around the can to keep it in place.

Picture

In goes the topiary!
I stuffed more plastic bags to fill the empty space and topped it off with some brown moss.

Picture

Now…where should it go?
Mantle?
Naahhh.
My mantle looks a little better without them.

Picture

They found their home at my entryway.

Picture

For now…

Picture

Do you like them?

It really didn’t take very long to make at all.
Instead of leaves, you could use acorns, pinecones, mini pumpkins, fall flowers, feathers…options are endless!

Wishing you a terrific Tuesday!!
